Hard Knocks Life

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Last night out on the porch, Tage took a header into a big clay flower pot I’ve got on the steps, and came away with this goose egg to show for it. The swelling’s gone now, but the bruise is a lovely shade of black and blue.

Going Dutch

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Lydia’s developed a powerful love for jumping rope, thanks in large part to the new Disney Channel movie, Jump In, and she’s on a mission to master double dutch. A few days ago she scrounged up a couple of ratty, too-short jump-ropes, and enlisted her brother and a plastic lawn chair as rope-turners, but [...]

Merchandiser’s Dream

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Yesterday afternoon Tage was sitting at home, wearing his Spiderman shorts and a Spiderman t-shirt, slurping away on a Spiderman popsicle.  Just then a package from Onock turned up and, among many other goodies, were some presents for Tage: a Spiderman coloring book, a Spiderman puzzle, a Spiderman poster, a Spiderman book, and a Spiderman [...]

I’m not the only one in my family who makes beautiful babies — my brother, Bill, has two adorable little ones of his own, and my mom just sent me these pictures of them (that’s my brother in the middle; the little girl behind them is cute, too, but I’ve no idea who she [...]

Countdown!

Monday, May 7th, 2007

One month from today, my mom will be arriving in Stockholm for a month-long visit to Sweden. We haven’t seen her since her last visit, in the fall of 2003. This is by far the longest I’ve ever gone without seeing my mom, and with every passing day I get more and more [...]

Portentous

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

The other night, as I was going to switch the laundry around, I noticed Tage in the hallway working on some sort of elaborate set-up involving, among other things, the stroller, a blanket, a rainboot, and a makeshift fishing rod. When he saw me, he stopped what he was doing and looked me straight [...]

I’ve lost my mojo.

Friday, May 4th, 2007

I’m in a slump. The words, they’ve forsaken me. As loathe as I am to post dull entries like this one, I’m afraid that if I go post-less much longer the situation will become dire, so my readers will have to bear with me.
Since I got home from Stockholm on Monday (where I [...]
