A couple of days ago, after clipping the baby’s fingernails, I called Tage over to me to check if he needed a trim as well. Much to my dismay, his nails were all bitten down very short, almost to the quick on some fingers, and his fingertips looked painfully red.

Up ’til now he hasn’t been a nail-biter, but I know bad habits can be formed very quickly so we decided not even to give it a chance. This afternoon we stopped off at the pharmacy and bought a bottle of “Stop and Grow” anti-nail-biting liquid to paint onto his fingers. He got the first dose this evening after dinner, and so far it’s working pretty well. Just so I’d know what we were giving him, I tasted a tiny drop on my own fingertip, and all I have to say is if that doesn’t keep him from putting his fingers in his mouth, I don’t know what will.
