Close call

For many years now I have been steadfast in my dislike of Coldplay.  None of my Chris-Martin-loving friends has been able persuade me that their music is anything worth my time, and I’ve even been known to leap up and switch radio stations if one of their songs comes on (that high-pitched voice of his sets my teeth on edge, it does).

Imagine my dismay, then, when I discovered that the catchy new tune I’ve been humming along to for the past several weeks is none other than the new Coldplay single.  Gah!

Fearing that there had been a violent shift in the world’s axis, I listened with some trepidation to the new album in its entirety.  I wasn’t sure I’d be able to live with myself if it turned out I liked it.  Me, a Coldplay fan?  The possibility was nearly too terrifying to consider.

It was with a not insignificant amount of relief that I realized, when all the songs had played through, that it was only the one that I thought was any good.  An aberration, if you will.  Thank god.

  1. I like Coldplay but that particular song is the only good one on it. Although I probably need to listen a little bit more. One of the others may grow on me.

  2. I’ve heard from a lot of fans that they don’t think the new album is so good. It’s good to hear I’m not alone in not liking it! 😉
