* * * * *

It’s a start.

I had thought we might stay up all night watching election results, but by about two o’clock I was really longing for my pillow.  I managed to keep my eyes open until three-thirty–long enough to make sure that we wouldn’t wake up to any nasty surprises in the morning–and after Pennsylvania was called we turned off CNN and crawled into bed for a couple of hours.  After we got the kids off to school, Olof and I slept in shifts for most of the day, and I’m feeling mostly rested now.

Rested and satisfied.  Very deeply satisfied.

I’ve never been especially articulate when it comes to political matters, and there is plenty of good writing out there right now about what the Obama victory means to America and Americans, so I’ll leave the expounding to better wordsmiths.  For me, it’s enough to join with all those who are saying,  I feel like I just got my country back.
