Wow, long time, no post!

Anyway, I finally have something worth writing about, ’cause today is Brynja’s birthday! I know parents always say this, and I’ve said it before myself, but I just have no idea where the time goes. How can it possibly be two years ago that she was born?!

I may have mentioned earlier that I had ambitious plans for her birthday cake, and I feel like I’ve been doing nothing but cake-decorating for days now. Due mostly to space constraints, we had two parties for her, one yesterday with my friend, Debbie, and her family, and one today with Olof’s family, and because I was so taken with my cake idea, I made one for each day. Parents of pre-schoolers may recognize Toodles (or “Tingest,” as he’s called in Sweden) from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

This is the cake from yesterday, which I think was the better-looking of the two. We ended up leaving the ears mostly untouched, so I recycled them for today, re-doing only the big round part. It looked a little funky where I attached the parts, but I don’t think anyone noticed (even so, I’m not posting a picture — don’t want to ruin anyone’s image of me as a master pastry chef!). The picture of Brynja is also from yesterday. I’m not sure if we got a good picture today, what with having set her hair on fire during the candle bit and all. (Don’t worry, she’s fine. She’s fine.)
