The rest of my family are in bed but I’m waiting up for Åsa. I just can’t sleep easy with her outside since Pia was killed.
Today was a good day. Helena came over to help us wallpaper the living room, but we were very easily sidetracked by lunch, the beach, and fika so we ended up getting only about half the room done. We got a good start, though, and if Olof’s parents come over to help us out a bit, we should have no trouble finishing by the end of the day tomorrow.
When I bought the wallpaper for that room a year-and-a-half ago, I thought it was a cocoa brown and I’ve been planning the decor around that color. I bought curtains and a wall clock with brown in mind, and I’ve spent months and months imagining a cozy, chocolatey-warm room. When we opened up the first roll this afternoon, however, we saw that the paper is actually a purplish-mauve color. It’s still nice, and it’s going to look beautiful in the room, but I’ll have to adjust my plans a bit. For starters, the curtains I bought will be an absolute no-go in there now, and I’m not sure we can keep our mauve sofa in there with the walls being such a similar, but not complementary, shade. Maybe we’ll even have to buy another couch.
