Arrival

So Saturday it was finally time to hit Legoland. We had just one quick errand to run after breakfast, then we could dedicate our entire day to Lego worship.

I mentioned a few weeks back that I was considering sending home our dirty laundry, and the more we accumulated the better the idea seemed. So Olof got directions to the nearest post office and we wrapped up two good-sized parcels full of the clothes we’d already worn, and we set out Saturday morning to get them sent back to Sweden. The post office was in a grocery store two kilometers away, long past Legoland, but we felt like getting rid of that much useless weight would be worth making the extra walk, even though it was raining steadily and the kids were way past impatient to get to the good stuff already.

And you know, it would have been worth it, if the post office had been open. Ahem.

So we picked up a couple of things at the grocery store and had lunch in town before going back the way we’d come. Olof took the stroller and hurried ahead of us to drop the laundry back off at the cottage so we didn’t have to cart it around all day, while the rest of the kids and I followed at a more leisurely pace. We reached the entrance to Legoland about five minutes before Olof did, so we took shelter where we could find it and waited for him to trace his steps back to us.

Anticipation!

Then, finally, finally it was time for fun! I’m pretty sure we all agreed that it was worth the wait and the hassle we’d gone through to get there — there was so much to see and do that I think we could spend a week there without getting bored. I keep going through the pictures and remembering this or that thing that had slipped my mind, and every time I do I can’t help thinking that we really have to go back when the youngest kids are a bit bigger. Next time we fly directly to Billund, though. I’m brooking no arguments.
