This and that

I was up at 4:30 this morning to catch a 6:30 flight down to Uppsala. Not unexpectedly, I’ve been dragging all day. I foresee an early bedtime tonight.

We’ve had lots of excitement at home these past few days, with my bff, Debi, and her family — husband, teenage son, and the cutest little Jack Russell terrier you ever did see — arriving to stay with us in the first stages of what they’d like to be permanent settlement in Sweden. So far things are going along swimmingly. The only downside is that I want to spend all my time chatting instead of reading the hundreds upon hundreds of pages I’ve been assigned for school (not to mention the big paper I’ve got due in two weeks and have yet to pick a topic for).

Other big news, though I’m hazy on the details as I’m not currently at home, is that it looks like Petra is going to need glasses. For the past couple of months she’s been complaining now and again about headaches, so I called the doctor’s office yesterday. They suggested having the school nurse check her eyes. She had that done today, and the verdict is impaired vision. I’m a little ashamed that that never occurred to me as a possiblilty, but I suppose that’s probably because I’ve always had headaches off and on, and I have perfect vision. Petra’s headaches have been worrying me some, so I’ll be thrilled if it’s a relatively easy fix. Headaches are no fun, especially when you’re only seven years old.

So, that’s a little peek inside my life at the moment. I keep thinking I’m going to get back in the habit of regular blogging, but well … yeah.

  1. How did you talk your best friend into moving to Sweden!? I just ask because I need some advice on how to get like…my entire family and friends to move here 🙂 Have fun and enjoy!

  2. You had to do some serious persuading, relentlessly, for years to convince me to move there. Uh, something like that. Lolololol! Nah, YOU are just THAT awesome. (And awesome attracts awesome, so really it was inevitable). It also helps that your bff is somewhat of a hippie/gypsy and wants to live everywhere.

Also, you would probably get more done if I wouldn’t stalk you all day. I was wondering when I’ll get enough of you and not be compelled to be in the same room you’re in. I don’t see that happening. If I don’t move out fairly soon, you risk failing all your classes, lol. Come home already, I miss you. xx
