I’ve just spent much of the afternoon and evening working up a mock thesis outline for one of my classes, and at the moment, I confess that my overwhelming feeling is that I’m not smart enough for this. I think my brain is much more suited to memorizing facts and spitting them back out on command than to performing meaningful analyses of theories and methods and the like. The deeper into this I get, the less certain I am of my ability to write a successful master’s thesis.

Confidence, what’s that?

You are going to do it. Right now you are like a runner who is out of practice. That first mile seems a long way to go.
Your mother is so smart. And absolutely correct.
And it is Sweden. 😉 If you don’t pass… you are given a chance to fix it and try again. Try try again! See, the ‘worst-case’ scenario isn’t bad. And really, as long as you have something resembling logic and no glaring holes and actually complete it. You’ll likely pass after a few revisions. One of the guys I studied with back in Uppsala didn’t use a single period in his entire paper and still got a VG 😛
