It’s been a couple of days since I posted an entry, but seriously, I’ve got nothing.
I do have a little anecdote that’s a bit funny, but I think it loses quite a bit in the telling. I’ll lay it on you anyway.
Today Lydia’s school had an open house, meaning that all the kids had to be there from ten in the morning until one in the afternoon, and parents were supposed to come and hang out to see what a typical school day was like (they did an abbreviated run-through of their normal activities). At one point, while the kids were working on their reading, some unknown Authority Figure came into the room and said that when all of the grades gathered in the cafeteria for the singing program, grades 1-3 would sit on the floor and grades 4-5 would sit at the tables. After the AF left, we parents got a chuckle from this exchange*:
Rebecka: “Ska vi sitta på golvet?”
“Ja,” svarade fröken.
Rebecka, helt på allvar: “Vilken skandal.”
Then she went quietly back to her work.
*Rebecka: “Are we going to sit on the floor?”
“Yes,” answered the teacher.
Rebecka, completely serious: “What a scandal.”
I love the way kids comments things right out in the air… Saying exactly what they think, though I guess I could/would cause somewhat embarrassment now and then.
