One of the first things people usually notice when they come to my house is that we have a lot of clocks. So many clocks, in fact, that one of Lydia’s friends recently asked, “Is that really necessary?” when she noticed that we had added another. It’s all my doing, I confess. I like clocks, as much for their aesthetic appeal as for their function, and I feel like we could never have too many.
Except for those twice-a-year Daylight-Savings-Time changes. Last night, after changing the fourteenth clock and with eight still to go, I just might have had a fleeting thought that we have too many. Of course, that won’t stop me from buying another one next time I see something cool.
