Lightweight

I’m trying to cultivate the habit of drinking red wine, because it’s good for my heart and, let’s face it, it’s terribly sophisticated. (It becomes somewhat less sophisticated, of course, when said red comes from a paper carton and costs less than $10 a liter, but let’s leave that, shall we?)

Excepting a few crazy months the summer after I turned 21, I’ve never been much of a drinker–and I’ve never really cared for wine–so I’m prepared for this to be a bit of a challenge. Last night I had a tiny little glass, and that went well enough, so I decided a repeat was in order. Olof brought me a glass while we watched Gray’s Anatomy (we’re way, waaaaayyyy behind all y’all in this U.S., so please, no spoilers!), and I downed it, with perhaps a tad more haste than true sophistication demands.

It went straight to my head. And stayed there for an hour, at least.

Yes, that’s right … I got tipsy on one glass of wine. Guess we all know who’s a cheap date.

  1. You need to drink GOOD red wine. I really recommend a wine called Porcupine Ridge Syrah (2004). It costs 87 SEK for a 75 cl bottle but it’s worth it (and it’s not a 200 SEK wine so it’s not that expensive). I’m sure that will go down much better. Might still make you tipsy of course 🙂
